Accepting these terms
These terms cover your use of the J&R Bridgeport Concrete Construction website and any work you ask us to quote or do. By using the site, asking for an estimate or booking a job, you agree to them, so please read them before you go further.
If anything here doesn't sit right with you, you're free not to use the site. You can also call us at (475) 225-2242 and talk it through before you commit to anything.
What we do
We're a concrete contractor based in Bridgeport, CT, and our crew pours and repairs driveways, patios, walkways, steps, garage floors, slabs, footings and other concrete work for homes and businesses in Bridgeport and the cities around it. The home page lists our services, and the about page tells you more about who we are.
The site gives general information about concrete work so you know what to expect. It isn't advice for your particular property. What your job actually needs is settled on site and written into your estimate.
Estimates and pricing
We give free quotes on site with no obligation, because we can't price a slab properly until we've seen the ground, the access and where the water runs. Your written estimate says what we'll do and what it costs, and that written estimate is what we work from, not anything said in passing.
An estimate is based on what we can see before the job starts. Once the old concrete is out, we sometimes find soft subgrade, the soil the new slab sits on, or buried debris, roots or old pipes. If that changes the work or the price, we stop and tell you before we go ahead, and nothing extra gets done without your okay.
Unless your estimate says otherwise, the price holds for 30 days, because material costs and our schedule move.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We set a start date with you when you accept the estimate, but concrete depends on the weather, so we'll move a pour when rain, freezing temperatures or extreme heat would weaken the finished slab. We'll tell you as soon as we know and give you the next date we can hold.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, call us as early as you can. If we've already ordered material or prepared the site, we may charge you for that material and labor, and your estimate will say so. Concrete that's already been poured can't be undone, so once a pour is booked with the plant, cancellation costs are usually higher.
After a pour, the slab needs time to cure, the wait while it hardens to its full strength. We'll tell you when it's safe to walk on and drive on, and you agree to keep people, cars and equipment off it until then.
Payment
Your estimate sets out any deposit, when the remaining payments are due and which payment methods we accept. Payment is due on the dates in that agreement.
If a payment is late, we can pause work until it's settled. Any late charge or collection cost we can recover is the one written in your agreement and allowed under Connecticut law.
What concrete does and doesn't do
Concrete is a natural material, and some things about it are normal and not defects. Small hairline cracks, slight color differences between pours and minor surface marks happen even on a well-built slab. We cut control joints, grooves that give the slab a planned place to crack, so cracks usually stay in lines we chose.
We stand behind our work, and if something doesn't look right, call us and we'll come out and take a look. Any written warranty we give you is the one in your estimate or contract. Beyond that, and as far as Connecticut law allows, we don't make other promises about the work, including about how it will look over time or hold up to uses it wasn't built for.
A warranty doesn't cover damage from things outside our control, like heavy vehicles on a residential slab, deicing salt, tree roots, settling of soil we didn't prepare, poor drainage elsewhere on the property, or changes someone else made after we finished.
Limits on our liability
As far as Connecticut law allows, J&R Bridgeport Concrete Construction isn't responsible for indirect or knock-on losses, like lost use of a driveway while it cures, lost income or damage caused by conditions we didn't know about and couldn't reasonably have seen. Our total responsibility for any job is limited to what you paid us for that job.
Our crew is licensed and fully insured. Nothing in these terms limits responsibility that the law doesn't let a business limit.
Using this website
We try to keep the information on this site accurate, but it's offered as is, and we can't promise it's always complete or current. Links to other websites are there for your convenience, and we don't control those sites.
The words, photos and design on this site belong to J&R Bridgeport Concrete Construction. Please don't copy them for commercial use without asking us first.
If we disagree
If you're unhappy with anything, call us first at (475) 225-2242, because most problems get sorted out once we're both standing at the slab. Give us a fair chance to look at it and put it right.
If we can't settle it that way, we'll both try mediation in good faith before either of us goes to court, unless your contract says otherwise or the law gives you a different right.
Which law applies
These terms and any work we do are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut. Any court case goes to the state courts that cover Fairfield County, unless the law requires otherwise.
Where Connecticut law gives you rights as a homeowner or a consumer that these terms can't take away, those rights still apply.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the version on this page is the one that applies to your use of the site. Work under a signed estimate or contract follows the terms you agreed to at the time.
If one part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still stands.
Questions
If you have a question about these terms, call us at (475) 225-2242 or reach us through our contact page. Expect a reply within 1 business day.
